Gypset Style

I've been reading this book for the past week or so while at work. I read it a little at a time while I'm at the scanner, or waiting for things to process, etc.. It's been so much fun to look at. The pictures are inspiring and the stories are entertaining.
I love the whole nomad world traveler aesthetic. Textiles from Uzbekistan, Persian wool rugs, Egyptian tent material, saris from India, tooled leather from Morocco, fringed piano shawls from Spain, beads from Africa, and much, much more.
I'll never be a bohemian traveler. I've resigned myself to that. When I was younger I thought I had the wanderlust necessary to pull of the nomadic lifestyle, then I realized I actually like to be settled down and in a routine. But, I can live vicariously through books like this.
This book makes me very, very happy.

The ULTIMATE Outfit !!!

If I owned these pieces, I would wear them together everyday.
Yeah, the people at the grocery store would look at me funny, but I wouldn't care!

Close up of the back of the belt from the coveted costume.

Vintage Bellydance Costume.
A woman on Tribe.net had this set up for sale a few years ago and I just about DIED when I saw it. It sold in a matter of minutes which made me so sad I think I pouted about it for a week. I love the design so much. Maybe someday I'll try to figure out how to make something similar. For now I just have the pictures to drool over.
Oh costume, how I love you so...........
